Horn problems on 72 T top

My horn has just gone dead in my 72 Vette. I can't get the horn to work no matter what I do. I noticed today when I almost got smacked in a parking lot because my horn doesn't sound. My Vette is now off the road SOMEBODY HELP!!

first check to see if a fuse is blown, i had lost my horn in my 80 vette too before. did you also lose your clock, power antenna or anything else? if you have access to a voltmeter you should measure to see if your getting voltage to the 2 horns. you should also check ground on the horns too. if your car has a alarm system there is another horn for that right on the firewall and the ground is right on the horn itself. start to check around and if you can get a wiring diagram for that circuit it will make your life a lot eaiser.

you can check the fuse like what was said before..if the fuse is good next push the horn and listen for a light click under the dash, the click will be the relay... so if you do hear a click this tells you that the horn switch works aswell as the relay...the next thing would be to see if you have power at the relay if so, it might be as simple as a bad ground...

Sorry for the vague info but its easier to do than say..Good luck

I think the contacts under the horn button are a weak point.

PITA to get at tho .... gotta remove the steering wheel. Check the relay first.

The relay was the problem when my horn would not work. It's under the hood bolted to the drivers side inner fender. Since it's exposed to the elements the terminals can be prone to corrosion. Try cleaning the connections and see if you have any luck. It should click when you press the horn button. Nothing more fun than an electrical problem eh?
