One of my nieghbors has a 2004 C5 that he just dumped $16,000 in performance upgrades on. He said it dynoed at 510rwhp. He said if I wanted to drive a real corvette to come over. So I did. He took me for a drive in it. Then he let me drive it. It did have more snap in it on take off with the 410 gears and that big cam. But to be honest I wasnt sure it was any faster than my 90 ZR-1 which is stock. If it is faster it isn't be a hell of a whole lot. For $16,000 in upgrades I was expecting to have my neck snapped off. Also when he power shifted to 3rd gear he missed 3rd and his clutch stuck to the floor which did not make him happy. He said he had driven those as he pointed to my Z and said the only reason he never bought one was because parts are so expensive and parts availability sucks. But for $16,000 was it worth it?

If you pay $54,000 for a new C5 in 2004 and then dump $16,000 into it, why not just buy a zo6 and be done with it. Especially if thats what your trying to keep up with? Just my personal opinion.

just wait till you port the inj housings and plenum then go find this guy and race him from 20mph up and watch the look on his face when you either keep up with him or beat him. you should have seen the look on my buddys face when my blk car beat his brand new zo6 by a car . he win now but has put long tube headers and exhaust , plus an air intake . but you should have seen the look on his face it was priceless.our cars are top end machines and beat cars with more hp due to our motor design.

Don't kid yourself the porting alone does not give you the performance. I tore my top end down and sent it out for porting of air horn, plenum and injector housings. It was stronger but less than I expected. I contacted Haibeck about a custom e-prom and that made the difference. All the air in the world makes no difference if you don't schedule the fuel to go with it, and a few other things.

well duhhhhh, of course you have to dyno it after porting or the car would be way toooooo lean . car had 372 rwhp before and 409.9 after tunning and porting id say that was a decent improvement . then redid the exhaust eith my own design and came out with a total of 432.1 and hadnt even done the heads car has run 1160s all day @ famoso . so i am happy if i go any faster i would need to put in a roll bar.:Dit also has 150k on the clock and going strong .

Different strokes for different folks. It sounds like your neighbor is an a-hole though.

Yea, He tends to bragg alot. So I just let him. It's entertaining. He said he got spanked buy one of the new GTO's and by a z06 all in one day. And he just never got over it. So he wanted to make sure it never happend again. But he should of known better.

bottem line there is allways someone with a faster car . found that out today , a friend just finished his twin turbo 68 nova . he took me for a ride and holy cow that car just sh*ts and gets . he asked if i wanted to race . i said no you are too young . i only race in the senior class:D
