I was wondering if horsepower ratings are still given as net for the C-5's?

What would the current LS1 and LS6 engines be rated if it was gross rating. I understand that a 'best guess' is about the only answer you can provide. Would it be about 400-425 and 450-475 respectively?

Well, honestly, I dont really know.
I have never been asked that, and I really dont have a guess.

I remember reading someplace recently that adding 20% of the NET HP rating will get one in the Gross HP park... so to speak. Doing that math, the LS1 is approx. 420 Gross HP, the 2001 LS6 would be 462 Gross HP, and the 2002 - 2004 LS6 would be 486 Gross HP. But I like your 500+ figure better!
