In the cover story in the July issue of Hot Rod titled "The World's Fastest Cars, NASCAR, Imports, NHRA & More" they have a section titled "The Fastest Cars You Can Buy". Of course they list the currently available cars such as the Ferrari Enzo and Lambo Murceiloago but they also list some cars of the past.
The last paragraph says "Topping that, however, was the '88 Callaway "Sledgehammer" Corvette with a twin-turbo small block pumping in excess of 890 hp. During testing at Ohio's Transportation Research Center (chronicled in a 1989 Vette magazine article by D. Randy Riggs), Callaway's team clocked the Sledgehammer at over 254 mph."
Probably most of you guys are aware of this amazing feat but isn't it also amazing that not even the new $650,000 Enzo can top or even come close to that 1988 mark?
