Hey all,
Just curious, for months I've been looking for motels for the Carlisle car show August 26-29 2005, but they are so expensive. The closer it gets, the more expensive it becomes. So I have deceided not to go this year. My question is for next year 2006, when will the car show be? Is it always the last weekend in August? What I'm planning to do is book 1 year in advance, but want to make sure I get the date right...
Thanks
Craig

Try the Radisson Hotel in Camp Hill...its about 20 mins or so from the Fairgrounds and a lot of people stay there as its a Convention Center. Prices are reasonable, but I doubt booking a year in advance will give you a lower price.

Consider coming this year, its all relative, as once you start coming you can establish your room for next year, knowing you have a room at one place, then you can look for a closer place or cheaper place while you already know you have a room.

They have only a few rooms left and they will go by end of April. I have been going to Carlisle for over 10 years, and every year it gets bigger...

Good Luck

No matter when you book the hotels for the carlilse show they are way over priced for the level of the hotels ,Run thru carlilse when no show is on and the hotels are $49.00 a night for the truckers to stay in.

Lance needs to build a 5 star hotel in town for us all.

We stay with a friend that is a vendor at all the Carlisle shows....her rented house is on the edge of Gate B.....doesn't get any better than that!!! Last year we drove the Z06...probably will do that again....look for the Torch Red Z06 with Ronal Wheels.....that be me!

Don't give up so easily. There are plenty of hotels in that area. If you've never been to Carlisle it's worth the trouble. Get a map and check Gettysburg, Harrisburg, Hanover. Anywhere within 30 miles there are rooms. Getting one in Carlisle will be tough and expensive.

I just booked the Red Roof Inn (North) in Harrisburg. It takes about 20 minutes to get to Carlisle from there and it's $90 per night which to me seems reasonable. I'm used to New England hotel rateswhich are considerably higher than down south.

Every year I say I'm going to get a room for next year (before I leave) in a hotel closer before I head home and I never do. But the few years I've stayed at the Red Roof Inn everything was fine. We are only in our rooms for probably 6 hours a night so I don't need anything too fancy.

They seem to always have openings after all the closer ones are booked.

Good luck, Mark

hotels

i'm staying at the appalachian inn.it's 6 minutes from the fairgrounds and it's around 120 bucks a night.it "ain't" cheap, and it "ain't" the fanciest hotel, but it's clean and it's close to the event!it's worth it to me to pay a little extra to be close.my first year there i stayed at the red roof inn and it took me two hours to find it at night not knowing my way around there at the time!!!and in answer to your question, most places don't take reservation's on next year till around january and as far as the date's go,i alway's find them out at the current year's event.good luck.p.s.if you're a member of ncoa, you can get a room in the hilton(i think)at harrisburg for around 100 bucks or so a night.www.ncoa-vettes.com.
