I was unaware that stock C6's were being raced at places like Daytona. I don't think a factory C6 is quite up to the task. It amused me during the C5 era how people would get excited about "C5" wins. I don't recall any C5's being raced. The factory, in its effort to portray the C5R as even remotely related to the C5, was reduced to explaining that the C5R actually used some stock C5 parts....like the dash panel or door frames or whatever or some bolts here or there. It would be interesting, though, to find out if the new Z06 has more in common with the multimillion dollar race version than its C5 predecessor had. Of course, the factory does use the R versions as development tools for the stock cars. But it's ho hum time for me as far as caring who wins these races. I don't follow it-these are not factory cars even in the most remote way. Being an oldgoat I recall decades ago when the cars that were raced by the factory or in factory sponsored events were actually the car you could buy at your local dealer....or at least close. An interesting race to me would be one in which factory cars right off the showroom floor were put up against each other. That would tell me something about the car I could buy. How long would one of the new Z06's last in a demanding race? Who knows but it would be interesting.
