How do I fix this 1965 hood?

Its a small block hood where the bonding strips under the hood connect to the hood skin in the engine compartment.

The hood inner panel is only "bonded" (with polyester resin) to the inside of the outer panel around its outer periphery - about a 3/4"-wide bond area all the way around the hood. All the other "touch points" between the inner and outer panels where you see separated material were joined with a panel deadening adhesive, commonly known in the body shop trade as "gumdrops", which set up in the paint oven but still had some "give" to it. It was done that way on purpose to avoid getting "bond burn" distortions in the highly-visible outer panel surface. The thread over on the NCRS Board describes how to clean out and prep the separated areas, but I'd use "gumdrop adhesive", not polyester resin, to make the repairs. Don't "drop" the hood to close it - push down on the corners when it's resting against the latches.

Damage was done by the previous owner.
