If you'd like to post a poll with a thread there are only a few steps involved and it is done when you post the new thread.

Post a New Thread and type whatever remarks or description you want to share as usual.

Scroll to the lower portion of the page and you'll see the "Additional Options" section:

In the "Additional Options" section you'll see the "Post a Poll" option. (Step 1 in the photo)

Place a checkmark in the box. If you know the number of choices you want to include, you can select it here, but don't worry, you can change the number of choices on the next page if you decide to include more - or less.

Click on the "Submit New Thread" button to continue to the next page. (Step 2 in the photo)

This will open the next page in the process.

Here you will type your question or subject of your poll, decide the number of choices or options, place a "TIMEOUT" for the poll or leave it open indefinitely, allow more than one choice, make the votes public or private, etc.

After you've entered your question or subject and the options or choices, click on the "Submit New Poll" button and you're done.

Your new thread will appear with the poll attached.

As always - if you run into a problem or have an issue, post a thread here in the Site Help and Feedback Forum and we'll try to give an assist.
