Hi guys, anyone got any tips on cleaning TT intercoolers, specifically the thin strips of stainless between the fins (like on a radiator). The ends of the intercooler are easy enough with a bit of chrome polish but I can't find a satisfactory way of getting to the bits between the fins without possibly damaging the fins.

See the attached pic for the areas I mean.

Looking forward to some clever replies!!

Malc,

This does take careful work in order not to damage the fins. My technique is to apply a bit of mothers polish with a Q-Tip and then use of a dremmel tool (at slow speed) with a cloth polishing tip to polish it up. It works well but you want to keep the speed at minimum.

Interesting tool. I have always used a thin needle nose plier to straighten then back up. And it works rather well.

Thanks chaps

That's the only bit of the engine bay I couldn't clean! Must polish up the aircon & smog pumps next!
