Question: How do you cut new seat covers for the shoulder belt to pass through?

You take it back to the upholstery shop and have them do the job right. Unless you have an industrial sewing machine and know how to use it.

Thanks, Lars. That's what I thought too. I took this project over from my dad after it had been sitting for a long time. He had the seats redone 15 plus years ago. Always bugged me that the seatbelts weren't right. I was hoping that there was some type of reinforcement in the new style covers that would allow me to do this, but, as I thought, no shortcut here. Thanks for the advice.

One other thing...didn't you write up the Q-Jet/Holley dyno comparison. That was fascinating. I'm a fair mechanic, and have tried to wrap my head around tuning carbs, but haven't really grasped it. I bought a book to help me along, but it gets pretty technical out of he gate. I need something that steps me through basic tuning first, so I gain some context about what it's all about, then dive deeper. Any suggestions?

I put new seat covers on my '73 many many years ago when I first got it. The covers are supplied with no holes to allow for fine tuning and adjusting. I put the front and rear covers in place and used a sharp knife to trim away the excess material to allow the shoulder belts to pass through.
