40th Anniversary How do you remove just headlight covers?

I have a cracked cover on my headlight and bought a replacement. When I went to take the other one off I had trouble accessing the screws on the sides both when they were open and closed. Do I have to take the whole assembly apart or can I take just the covers off. Either way how can it be done and what tools do I need to make this as easy as possible?

Turn the manual knob on top of the light asem. Can't miss it, turn it just enough to raise the light asembly and access the side screws. Very easy to do.
