I have wondered if it is a Z oh six or a Z zero six. ie; The letter "O" or the number 0.

"Zed" oh six up here!!!
:D

Z- Oh Six to me.

It's actually Z - Zero - six, but saying Z- Zero- Six doesn't sound as cool as

Z - OH - six.

If I remember correctly all or at least most of the Regular Production Options (RPO) codes are a letter-digit-digit sequence. Z06 is nothing but an RPO code.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

The "0" is technically a zero, but it is pronounced "Oh".

I've never, ever, heard anyone say "zero" or "ought".

since this is a RESURGENCE of the original 1963 RPO - "ZEE OH SIX" is what it is

When I bought mine, the person who had me sign the loan documents referred to it as a "Zee-Ought-Six," but he is the only person I've ever heard refer to it with the word "Ought." Sort of like how do you refer to the decade we're in, as the "2000's" or the "Oughts"?

I tell folks who ask that's a "Zee-Oh-Six." To me, it just sounds cooler to say it that way than with the "Ought." I mean, what is "Ought?"

When you guys say ought, I'm thinking about the firearm cartridge! :L

Exactly! 30.06 = "Thirty ought-six". It would be silly to say "Thirty Oh-six", wouldn't it?

According to Vettepilot, its Letter-digit-digit. Zee, Zero, Six. Zero is a Zero, not an 'Oh'. An "oh" is a letter. But Corvette regs state its a digit, so it can't be an 'oh'.
It has to be a zero, or, another word for zero, 'ought'. I worked in the power industry a few years, and most wire was described as 'ought'. 4/0 "Four Ought", 2/0 "Two Ought". etc..

Like when people give you a phone number and say 'oh', instead of zero. Its a zero, not an 'oh'! And, of course it could be an 'ought'. ;)

Well, until I own one, (a Z06, that is), I will defer to you Z06 owners..

There isn't really any debate here. It is pronounced "oh", even though it is a zero production code.

Watch any car show, or any GM or Chevy presentation, and they say "zee-oh-six."

"Ought" is generally a term used when speaking in years only. Older people still talk this way. "I was born in ought 5", which would be 1905, for example. That is why we say "thirty ought six" for the .30-06 caliber rifle round. The round was originally developed in 1906. The round doesn't have .06 more diameter. It is just from the year it was made.

Maybe they got confused when the drove it for the first time. "Z ohhhh Sh........... that's a fast Corvette.

I read where Dave Hill has referred to the car as "Zee Ought-six" but allows as it is most commonly known as the Z-OH-6. If we all decide to accept it as 'ought' I'm going to have to change my license plate! :cry

Z-oh-six or WHAT THE HE-- WAS THAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

You are gonna need a longer plate!
