Just curious..How far would you normally travel EDIT: in your C1/C2 ;) to go to a car show? I know, many factors involved...but generally....Is 100 miles one way too far?

Andy

Alot of us drive alot farther to Carlisle, I drove about 420 to Carlisle, alot of people drive alot farther than me, but 100 miles is about it for a one day show, longest I ever drove for a one day show is about 150.

I have driven many times from GA to Carlisle in my 67 roadster, put over 2500 miles on my car each time I do it.

Not to mention all the spare parts he carries when not going to Carlisle...;LOL

Dennis,

Did you see the hotel thread, any thoughts on where to stay next year or was that place OK.

Carlisle is about the furthest i'll drive to a show. stock 4-speed and a 4:11 rearend doesn't make long drives the most pleasurable but at least Carlisle is well worth the trip

Fuel is now about $5.00/US gallon. I get about 12 miles/gallon. My 1967 does not go far.

Lessee...how 'bout FL to NCM ('94, '98, '99, '02)

FL to Bloomington - Springfield, then ('96, '97)

FL to Carlisle ('97)

FL to Monterey/Salinas, CA (NCRS/SACC/Historics '02)

Oh yeah, also FL to Flint MI (SACC 50th Anniv '03)

That doesn't count the NCRS Cypress Gardens/Orlando show that I'm part of the committee - about 90-130 mi one way ('91 to present) or the other "local" NCRS shows as well (mileage varies but mostly in excess of 120 mi one way).

I'm happier now with my decision to install a Richmond 5-speed and 3:08 rear prior to the CA trip. 20 mpg highway ain't too bad for a 48 year old Corvette!

When they bump it to $10.00/US gallon, I'm still driving to Carlisle. :D

Now That's The Kind Of Man I like To Hang out With....!!!!!!!!!! Same Here..!!!:beer

1966 427/425 convertible with M21 and 4:11'S with side pipes on a cool spring or fall day I could easely drive this car at least 3.5 hours and have a great time in it. On a hot summer day I would do an hour drive max.

1962 454/425 convertible with 700R4 trans and 3:45'S this car I would drive any place as its real comfortable and runs real cool.

In the spirit of conservation, I may slow down a bit from 95 to 85 though. ;LOL

Well...if we travel together...that's 1004 Cube's....and 1134 Foot Lbs Of Torque.

Now if we some how can Harness the above we may possibly Raise the MPG up for both cars traveling as one. Using a tow chain or rope hooked to our rear spring and connecting to the front crossmember and alternating this hook up every now and then ....might yield us a 5 to 10 MPG improvement.

Of course....we would probably have to get our speed up to around 125MPH at first to over come inertia....then sit back with some Moose Pee and cruz.

This would also intail a feverish concentration on the 4 tail lights in front of you making sure that when the lead Vette's brakes are applied... that you also hit your binders.

I'll work out the details and get back to you.............

Holy crap, I now feel like I have a Briggs and Stratton :)

Look Who's Talking... Mr...11:1.... I need Jet Fuel to run my 30 over 475 HP BB....:L

My wife and I have driven her '62 from NC to Orlando once, Carlisle four times, and to Rochester NY once. Planning a trip out west one of these days.

I'm like Bill except i've never been al the way to California. Utah is as far as i've ventured from NJ about (2700 miles.) I plan on making the trip to Monterey some day.

I love driving the car everywhere. A few years ago I put around 25k miles on my 57 in one year. Some days I'll just hop in and drive 300-500 miles. Its pure bliss.

I have a magnet on my glove box door that is my Corvette creedo.

"It may have bugs, It may have chips, but one things for sure, I drive this *****. "
