I read the specifications page for the 75 vette but i think ive seen other numbers for the curb weight rather than 3690lbs. can anyone confirm this figure, i dont have any good scales laying around

Curb weight 3660 lbs

From "Corvette Chronical" the book

Your local grain elevator will weigh your car for you. Might cost you 2 bucks.

The Corvette Black Book lists a 75's curb weight as 3,529 lbs. (Curb weight is Weight of basic vehicle with regular equipment, including grease, oil, engine coolant to capacity and gasoline to capacity.)

So lets see, my 79 says that the GVWR is 4115 lbs. Thats two mighty big people if you ask me!! ;LOL

(GVWR is the total weight the car can carry, safely)

Jeff :w

Wow I thought these things were a lot lighter!!! I imagine an 81's not a lot different.

Door sticker on my 74 says GVWR is 4058 - -assume that's with the 450 lbs of passengers/cargo and without fluids/

That is how much it can carry, more of a function of tires and springs that are on the car.

Wait, can we actually get our cars weighed somewhere? Or was that "grain elevator" a joke? :)

Grain elevator can weight you car easy and also the local land fill might have a scale. The "dump" weights your car truch when you bring it in full of stuff to toss away and then weights it again empty and chargers you for the difference. You should be able to drive you car up onto the scale and they will tell you how much it weights.

its true. I haven't checked the car, but some years back, i did get the weight of my motorcycle at a grain elevator.

Mine is not a good example but it is a 75 with lots of light weight trick parts but alot of heavy ones too. I run a bigblock with a 125 pound 8-71 blower on top. The car is weighted twice a year and with a full tank of gas and NO driver it is right at 3500 pounds.

This is an interesting topic. I had my '71 LS6 coupe certified at scales, price was $5.00. Car weighed 3340 lbs empty with only about 1 gal of gasoline in tank. Options on car are PS,PB,Tilt/Tele,Rear Window Defroster & AM/FM stereo radio
