I want to add a corvette mini-starter to my f-body which now has a 90 vette engine with a T-5 trans and uses a 153 tooth flywheel. Was the vettes flywheel a 153 one as well. Another question is, are these mini starters very good? I'm just tired of having to sit after my car gets hot for the starter to cool down.

Has anyone else adapted one of these starters to another car?

well I think the major problem I'm having is I have the h.o. exhaust which is much closer to the starter then the other style and when hot my starter sounds really really bad. kinda sounds like stuff being drug through rocks it is dragging that bad, real bad scraping sound and you can also hear the starter like trying to disengage. Tried new GM over the counter starter and it died after 1 summer of brutal heat and this one thats on it now has a hard time after driving the car for an hour.

The cars electrical system is fine so thats not the issue & mechanically it has no issues, so I'm at a loss why it does this. Yes I have tried a shield it helped somewhat but thats it. Was going to try the remote ford solonoid thing but that seems to be an electrical nightmare in itself.
