2002 Torch Red Coupe
Hi

My cousin who has a 06 C6 vert auto is going to want to run with me at Englishtown. I might do it this time because l never liked the idea to drag a car but l don't think once will hurt the vette.

Or maybe go up to Lime Rock and take a run around the track in an informal race if we can. We used to be involved in SCCA B production vettes but that was back in 1970.

Anyway he still thinks l have my Lt1 96 coupe because l never tell anybody
(freinds and relatives) when l buy or sell one.

My C5 2002 is an auto, perf rear 3:15 Z-51, this will help more at Lime Rock, anyway what kind of handicap should l get?

Also because mine is Torch Red and his is Machine silver l should have the edge!

My best guess is that the C6 will win by about 0.5 seconds. I have quite a few passes on my '02 Z06 and an earlier '97 A4. I am no great expert, but that would be my guess. It is very easy to overpower the tires, just sitting there and spinning. So a lot will depend on how well you can launch. I would suggest left foot on the brake, take the RPM to 1000-1200, and go on the last yellow. Apply the power smoothly and quickly, but don't just stand on it. Wheelspin is slow. Just my $0.02

Just get used to the car and take a few practice take offs on the street, just to about 40 or so. After the launch with an automatic you really cant do anything.

At Etown you will so such variations of published numbers its impossible to tell the out come.

If you get a good launch on a cool day and your car is running right I would expect low 13s. The C6 should be able to match that or run in the high 12s.

There is no handicaping at Englishtown for street cars, you both tak off on the last yellow.

My 99 ran a best to date of a 12.98.

Hi all. Saw this post because etown was mentioned.

A good time to come out to etown is during the Corvette Challenge series held there 12 times a year. Lot's of Corvettes to race with and compare mods notes.

First race is March 11 followed by the second on March 18.
