How to activate C6 ignition without starting engine

Several members may have OBD scan tools which requires the ignition to be turned on
without starting the engine for their C6. In order to turn the ignition on without starting the engine, hold
the accessory button in for 7 to ten seconds. The car's ignition will turn on without the engine
starting so one can proceed with any necessary testing. I'm not sure why Chevrolet doesn't include
this little bit of information in their manuals or perhaps I missed it (must be listed under something not
addressing the ignition)

Usually, the manual only states: "RETURN VEHICLE TO AUTHORIZED CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE."
I doubt they set up the car for everyone/anyone to fool with the OBD port. (Granted, anyone can, but should they??) Well, no, not everyone should...

GM did, indeed, set the car up for everyone/anyone to "fool" with the "OBD port". It's required by Federal law that any company selling cars in the U.S. do that.

The reason you have to push the button for 7 sec is to tell the computer, you want ign on/engine off rather than start engine.

Now, it is true that GM would rather users take the car to the dealer rather than DIY and that may be why the KOEO function is not well-documented.

As for should everyone/anyone access the DLC? Of course they should, if they have the proper device to do so.
