How to Change Tires on a C5

I want to use my floor jack on the sides of the car to jack it up to change the tires for the first time. Do I need to buy pucks to protect the underside of the
car? Or, can you just slide the jack under it anywhere along the sides?
I would like to hear your suggestions?

I would not feel comfortable doing it without a puck.

Cut a small 2x4 block to loosely fit the jacking point. This will keep the jack pad well away from the fiberglass rocker panel.
