How to remove cowl vent screen?

I've finally obtained a wiper fluid hose to replace my broken one, but I need a little help in accessing where it needs to be installed. Apparently, to get at the connection points for the wipers, and to run the longer portion of the hose to the passenger-side wiper, I'll need to remove the cowl vent screen, which is right at the base of the windshield. Can anyone please tell me how to do this? I have some sort of service manual on CD, but either it is not complete, or this type of procedure isn't in the manual. It looks like this vent screen is held in with black, plastic, screw-looking things, but I'm not sure how to get those out without breaking them.
