I removed the crossmember from the frame but I have not been able remove the bushing from the crossmember, is there a special way or tool I need? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to get it ready for the powder coating shop next week.

Thanks
Chuck

Big Hydraulic press... Dave...

Thanks,

I am going with the aluminum pieces, do they need to be pressed in or do they bolt in place.

Thanks

After you use the stock pieces, then you "add" the aluminum wafers. They bolt in place. My memory is they include longer bolts, but I could be wrong. ;)

You can see them up there....top left and right.

Thanks for the help!

I thought they replace the bushings, I guess I better order some new bushings too. Did you weld in the extra plates to reinforce the diff. crossmember mounts and if so any pics.

Thanks

What did you do ?

Chuck,

The bushings are held in place by metal tabs, that are part of the bushing. In order to see them properly you might need to take a wire brush to them, and they will then be easy to distinguish.

Then you need to take a hammer and chisel and straighten out the tabs, and then the bushings can be removed from the x-member. There not an easy thing to bang out, but by going slow, and easing out one side at a time ( like a bearing race ) , you should be able to get them out.
