Hi, My 81 is unfortunately parked outside with a NOAH Car cover. Is there any way to minimize rust forming in the Engine compartment? I dont have a garage.
I am trying to keep the car in very good condition. Any IDEAS? Appreciate any ideas. Thanks, rollsman

Keep it off the grass!

One time years ago I parked a 70 roadster I had, on the grass next to the garage at my folks condo. About a day or two later the call came in to get it off the lawn.

I had the hood up doing something soon after and I "sh^t" when I saw all the rust that had formed on the metal parts. What I believe happens is the hot sun draws the moisture out of the ground and it sits on the parts and does the rust thing.

John You are very right, parking on the grass in an open invitation for moisture to be draw up into the car, brakes, exhaust system and frame. Here in upstate New York we actually had a couple of sunny days (after many rainy days) and with the cover on the Vette this too held in moisture. Getting ready to build a garage for the above reasons.

I've had to park a car outside for the winter a few times. I put a heavy tarp under the car which did not allow the moisture to rise. Made all the difference.

Get a good heavy duty one. The ground will rot one of those cheap blue ones.
