How to trace the original owner?

Hi Guys,
I live in the UK and have a 1982 Corvette. How would I go about tracing the person who originally purchased the car back in '82? How would i find out where the car was sold etc.

I have a carfax report that only shows records back to 1990.

This is purely for nostalgic reasons!!!!

Dazza,

Your first step will be to visit the Vehicle History Search page here at the CAC. Follow the instructions which apply to the state/country that Carfax tells you the car was titled. Some states are easier than others but most will eventually cough up the info you want on your car. Be prepared though, it can be a long process.

Since your Corvette is a 1982 you should be able to get build sheet from NCM Bowling Green, When you request the build sheet ask for the dealership that took delivery on it too.

Did search on my '75 in Florida once. They didn't have records back all the way. Can't find any data from '75 to about '79 or so. Not all states have records that far back.
