how to uninstall alarm system?

I have an aftermarket alarm system installed which I think is a PITA and causes me some grief. I was looking at how this thing was wired up and I think I somehow killed my interior lights by trying to follow the path of all the wires. I also think it might have something to do with my radio not working (think the alarm feeds off the same power source to the radio).
The alarm is a K-9 brand...I have all the manuals and wiring diagrams. I looked at them and decided I'd have a pro do it...maybe? Anybody uninstall an alarm before? I'm afraid if I try it, I won't be able to start my car again...

I'd suggest you find someone who knows exactly how to install/un-install alarms, maybe a shop in your town or a member here on the board.. otherwise it could lead to a giant mess or cutting wires that aren't connected with the alarm.

For $35 and 1/2 hour, it was well worth it to pay a pro to remove it...I thought it would cost much more.

I had the same problem. I went to a local shop that installs alarms and had one of the young guys come to my home after work and take mine out. There were wires everywhere on mine running out of a black box under the drivers side dash. This young kid starts tearing wires out and I ask him is this going to start after your finished. He said sure piece of cake. With wires everywhere he says i'm done try it. It fired right up and everything worked. Amazed me. He then hooked my radio up correctly as it would loose the settings after turning off the power. Charged me $40.00. I was happy to pay it.

My friend used to work in a stereo shop and could replace those things with his eyes closed.. I guess when you do a few jobs then it kinda becomes like second nature.
