Our 97 is making a buzzing or humming like noise that sounds like its coming from the drivers side trunk compartment. Has anyone heard of this at all? The service guy @ the dealer said it might be the fuel pump? Does this make any sense. I don't think it has anything to do with speakers bacause yo can hear it really good with the radio off. Please help me if you can. Thanks again......:confused

Do C5's have external amplifiers for the stereo system? If they do one could have a problem.

Do you ever come to the car with a dead BATT or is the Hum just when you drive? Does it do it NONSTOP or does it do it sometimes? Can you make it stop or no Etc..

Be REAL specific

Also does it sound quite high pitch in the humming catagory?

BigRed,

The 1997 & 1998 C5 fuel pumps were very noisy and many were replaced under warranty. The pumps get louder when the fuel level drops.

There has been considerable problems with the fuel pumps on early C5's and the fuel guages / sending units.

You may want to see a TRUSTED dealer for replacement of the LH fuel pump. Good luck.

Hmm! I should let my buddy know he's got a 99' Coupe!

Thanks

Some times mine sounds like an jet (high pitch wine). It is for sure the fuel pump.

I agree, it is the fuel pump because I have the same problem, but on the right side. My dealer is going to replace it under warranty.
