I know that my car did not come with the "emergency flasher" option....I am looking for the directional flasher.
My turn signals stopped "flashing" yesterday they work but do not blink......they are controlled by a flasher......right?

thanks....

The signal flasher is on the fuse panel. The 4-way flasher is clipped to the driver's side vent control panel (in '67 anyway).........or is it the reverse of that? I can never remember without looking it up. :D

Have you checked the fuse panel for the round flasher?

I do not see a round flasher at the fuse panel???
The replacement that I have is a round blue plastic module with 2 plugs....where does that go? :beer

Here, on my original '67 panel, it goes TOP RIGHT. Slots are 90 degrees opposed to each other. But note, I can't remember without looking it up if it's the 4-way or the directional that goes here.

I have the same block......but there has never been anything in the space that you are talking about. Wierd! my directional signals have always blinked till yesterday.

Your flasher should be the round "can" type, about 1" diameter and 1 to 1 1/2" in length. And yes, it was originally mounted in a clip which attached to the driver's side panel on the console. You're right, when the aftermarket air was added, the original panel was probablly replaced with an aftermarket air panel.

Therefore, the flasher should be somewhere in the vicinity "hanging around", as the wires aren't long enough to go too far (unless in the unlikely event someone spliced into them to relocate the flasher).

Any idea what color the wires should be?

One purple, one brown, connected to a 90 degree molded plastic female plug (connectors are at 90 degrees to each other so as to match the flasher male connectors).:)

THANKS!
Traced the color coded wires right to it stuffed on top of the radio...

Did you ever install you Old Air system?
Nope, I didn't Sam. It's still sitting in a box (four, to be exact) in my shop! Guess I should probably install it or sell it, one or the other.

I opted for the smaller Sanden (I believe that's the brand name) compressor with mine. I see that's what you have as well. How well does it perform?

I remember the guy saying I could get the original GM style long compressor, or the later model Sanden for the same price. I asked about differences between the two, and he said some folks preferred the look of the original style, but as far as performance, they were about equal. Only major difference was that the original required considerably more horsepower to drive than the late model Sanden. Seems like it was in the neighborhood of 5-6 v.s. 15-20 horses?

My reasoning for the Sanden was that any Corvette person would obviously know that the Old Air wasn't factory, even with the GM compressor, while any non-Corvette folks wouldn't know the difference anyway, would think the car came that way!:D

My driving in the '66, as I've previously said in other posts, is primarily short tripping about town, or late evening/early night with the top down, so not too much advantage to having A/C. And, if I go on a longer Corvette related trip, I take the '65 coupe with factory A/C. But, that doesn't happen often either.:(

Know anybody who might be interested? I guess if I get serious, I could list it here in the For Sale/Wanted section. :cool

My system is old.......it works fine......but looks stupid hanging so far below the glove box. I am considering the updated version of Old Air or the latest Vintage Air.......or just taking it out entirely.

Sam, Sorry I thought you were looking for the flasher switch man. OPPS.. Sounded like it originally.. I'm glad you found what you were looking for... Dave..

I see what you mean, but from my recollection, I don't believe the one I have is that thick, only about half or less as thick, and sits back further beneath the glovebox. I'd have to look at it & the literature again (which I'll do now that you've 'got my curiosity up) and let you know!
