Although I'm a newbie, I'll start with a confession: the only vette I've ever owned I lost in a divorce. The car was so sweet, and the divorce so bitter, it's taken me 15 years to decide to buy another vette (I guess you really have to be a car guy to get that, huh?). But the new Z06 is what did it.

So being the o.c. that I am, I have surfed and researched the car and the market as much as possible. My decision: DSOM, ebony, 2LZ, Nav., polished wheels. (Gives me an adrenaline rush just typing that in!):upthumbs Some dealers are still (as of today) willing to sell at MSRP. Others want $5k - $20k over MSRP. When I was young, I had no money and way too much spare time. And even though things are different now, I'm not willing to pay over MSRP (though I totally support those who do). So I am inclined to wait and watch what's in stock. (There are actually a bunch of cars sitting as stock on showrooms across the country already.) But I would also be just as glad to put a deposit down on the car I want now and take delivery whenever - as long as it's the car I ordered. I'm patient.

But you folks seem to have a better handle on things. Any advice on where, what dealer, etc.? Any dealer members have any advice?

Thanks in advance - and gee it's good to feel like a kid again!

Am I reading this right? You had a 63 swc that you lost in a divorce? Oh dear Lord....

With the DSOM Z06, you sure picked a heck of a way to jump back in the pool. I'm with you, wait on MSRP... but don't wait too long on the DSOM, because it won't be in production after this year :cry

My advice: Patience, if you have it. (Advice which is easy to give but harder to heed)

By the way, welcome to the CAC. :w

p.s. what is an o.c. ?

o.c.

TAMMY:

An o.c. stands for obsessive compulsive.

Over the years I’ve come to respect Kerbeck and McDormans for Corvette sales.

I bought my last new Corvette at McDormans and was very happy with the entire process. I visit Kerbeck every summer and am always impressed with their selections of cars.

OK actually I have been waiting till my ad shows up on the forum but I guess I better tell now that I have moved over to another Chevy dealer. Jack Maxton Chevrolet.Maxton has been in business since 1926 and here in Columbus since 1952. It is the largest Chevy dealership in the area. Our selection of Corvettes is just as good. The pricing will be better on Vettes. Being the largest Chevy dealership in Columbus has given me more oppurtunities in todays struggling marketplace. Mcdormans and I both being on the forum will now insure all forum shoppers will get the very best price. Maxto ships corvettes all over in an enclosed trailer. We just delivered two Z06's to New Jersey the other day in an enclosed trailer. My ad will be up soon and forum memebers will be able to make sure their deals are definately gonna be the best possible deal.
Bob McDorman is a good man. So feel free to shop both McDormans and my pricing you will be able to choose the best for you.

Mike,
I wish you the best of luck with Maxton. They are a good dealer too. I work pretty close to there and sometimes stop by the showroom to see what’s new.

Not to hijack 63s thread...
Mike, can you call me if you ever get any ’90-’92 ZR-1s on trade. My contact info is still the same. Let me know if you need it again. Originally, I had you looking for a ’95-’96 vert, but I may be changing my tune here.

Good choice..you're gonna love it!

Thanks for the responses, folks. This is a very friendly forum.

Yes, Tammy, you got the tale of woe right. And "Oh, dear Lord . . ." weren't exactly the words I used - at the time. But doesn't the song say something like "God blessed the twisted road that led me straight to you" (meaning my current wife, obviously)

And yes, 59-62USNVET, you are right. "o.c." is obsessive compulsive. (BTW, the pink vette thing looks like something my oldest son would do - very dry sense of humor.)

Thanks also to B17Crew and JAGSFAN for the dealer info. Speaking of which, if anyone wants to PM me about Maxie Price (sp?) chevy in Georgia, I would like to hear your comments. I will hold them in confidence.

All this adrenaline and excitement over the new Z0 reminds me of John Travolta's quip in Broken Arrow when Christian Slater suggested that he had lost his mind: "Ain't it cool!"

I am checking on the Daytona Orange availability for you. I will know on Friday if it will be available to you for ordering. I will be able to fit your time line on ordering A Z06 I just want to make sure the Orange is available.
