Well I finally got the Hooker sidetubes off the collectors. I heated them with a propane torch and worked on them with a 16oz, hammer not beer, until they came off. Not the prettiest thing I have ever done but it worked. Now I can't get the inserts out! I juiced them up, WD40 not beer, and am letting them soak.

Now, where's that beer....

After the first few years of popping exhaust pipes, I set aside the hammer and exhaust pipe chisel and got stainless pipes. Soooooo much easier.

The downside is my arm muscles aren't what they used to be.

Beer, eh!

Sky,
From my post on the other thread I left out one thing. I think the reason I'm having such a hard time getting the pipes on is the coating. Once i figure out how to get the pip of w/o ruining it I'm going to wire brush the inside of the sidepipe and the outside of the header to take the coating off.

I have always been a firm believer in "Anti-Seize" by "Permatex", especially on exhaust parts. I am going to clean inner and outer surfaces and Anti-Seize the he** out of it before I reinstall the sidetubes.

I'm looking forward to see your progress. Keep us posted.
