I just installed the (2) 4" tip Borla Stingers on my ZO6. I am extremely happy with the sound. At idle they have a nice low, mello tone, and someone walking by will definitely notice it. When you bring up the rpms in first (not WOT) they really sound sweet, almost reminds me of an exotic race car. When you jump on it hard, it's unreal. I never new the LS6 sounded that good. I had a Borla system on my LS1 99' Hardtop. This system sounds alot sweeter, a more classy sound. The installation only took 30 minutes from start to finish. Very well engineered product with excellent fit and finish. The last point I want to make is, (wow!), at the rear end view. The tips look huge. I had 4" tips before, but these seem more like 4" ID. I recommend these for anyone interested in getting rid of those titanium mufflers for a more aggressive sound, and a bump in the horsepower department.

Hey Todd:

Sounds like something I might do with my Z. Do you know what the weight difference is between the stock and the Borlas? I'm sure any weight gain will be compensated for in the HP dept.

Also, how much for the whole set up>>parts & installation? if you don't mind me asking.

Later,
G Man

Hey G man

Thanks for asking. There is a weight difference of around seven pounds per muffler. When I removed the titanium mufflers, I was shocked how light they were. Just for info, the stock C5 mufflers are nine pounds heavier than each titanium muffler. Stock = 44lbs. Borlas = 40lbs. I paid around $569.00 for them and another $100.00 for shipping and tax. They were $670.00 delivered.

You know, I looked at them in one of the catalogs and you're right, those round tips look huge.

Any intake work done yet?

Intake work

Yes, I have installed the Donaldson Blackwing, Granatelli MAF sensor and carbon fiber air bridge. At the time I was putting the new intake on, I installed the 160 degree thermostat, and coolant by-pass kit. The car runs a constant 176 degrees. I bought the Diablosport Predator and have programmed my fans to come on at 180 degrees. It works well if you are in any stop and go traffic. I also disabled the CAGS at the same time. G man what mods. have you been thinking about or have done?

Tod:

No mods on my car yet-completely bone stock. With a one year old daughter, you know where my extra money is going. I plan on keeping the car for a while so I'm in no hurry.

Eventually I will start out with an intake and exhaust and then maybe a short throw shifter. No specifics yet so I'm just doing my homework for now.

You set up sounds sweet. I wish I could see and hear it! Maybe a friend of my friend up in MA who just bought an SVT should meet you ;)

Cool.
You can email me a personal message, I'll respond with my phone number and other info. I can also send you a few pics. of the mods.
