So i just started puting my ACI fender flares on my 69 today. I got the pass side done, no putty yet but i got them hang'n. But wow, not as easy as it looks. They really are NOT the "perfect fit" You really have to finess them a little bit. And those back flares, looks like it will be tough to blend them in along the dooor jam. They leave very little room for putty. The front ones don't match up with the air damn. I'm going to have to do a little artistic sculpting up there in the front.
They sure are wide though. I was suprised, much bigger in real life. Way cool

I'll post a pic tomorrow of my progress. It sure is fun, I loved cutting off the old fenders. :ohnoes what a rush. I used a pnuematic air grinder wheel, slick as butter

Anyone else done this before?

got pics?

wow 67 heaven you had a little work cut out for ya haha. nice car.

Its been raining for the last 3 days i have not yet got out to the garage to take any pics, but i will try tonight.

Your car is in about the same shape as my '73 right now. Thanks for posting.

Hey are those trees I see in the background? I thought there were no trees in the desert. haha

hahaha, belive it or not, we have a lot of trees. Well they are more like big bushy shrubby looking trees. Not much good for fire wood either.

Yeah its a slow process these corvettes. You know what I mean, Your not satisfied unless its perfect. And then,, you change your mind everyweek, so nothing ever gets done. But i think i got it figued out now. Will be done soon! I'm determined.

Dano,

Chris Mc Donald did an in-depth story on the flare installation on his '69, Killer. I think it is on his web site with a lot of other info on the build. There may be something there that will be of interest to you.

Every year when this white scourge hits the ground I start Arizona dreaming again. It's only a matter of time.

Yeah but keep your summer home in Ohio, my inlaws live in Green Valley, it's like the surface of the sun in the summer it's so hot. I couldn't live there. (no offence corvette66!)

It must be an in-law thing. Mine live in Green Valley too. (Wife's mom and aunt). I've been there in the hot months too. It will definately drive out the winter chill. My oldest son lives in Queen Creek and the youngest is looking to move out there when he's out of college. That pretty much wipes out any close family left in this area. Maybe a refrigerated pool is the answer. :D

Tom

Well you know what they say about the desert..... "it's a dry heat" And it really is. I love the fact that mid january i can be out working on stuff and wearing short sleve shirts. I will never leave this wonderful desert. (unless she says we have to) :D I have only been here for 5 years, actually never been to green valley, or atleast i don't recall, i do know its a little south of Tucson.

Well I got the flares almost done, i'll have to insert a few more pics.

Every year I hate the snow and cold more. We have been out there a lot and even my wifes says that when we move she doubts that we will ever go back to Ohio for anything. I have no family left here (except our youngest son and he wants to go to AZ when he's out of college) and she just has aunts, an uncle and cousins.

Can't wait to see some progress pics on the flares.

Tom

Ohio, yeah sounds cold. I am originally from Pittsburgh Pa. I was always a big fan of the snow until i moved out here. Now i would call myself a Not so much fan of snow. BIg fan of the sun now, people here they hate the sun, specially in the summer months, you won't see poeple mow'n grass and bake'n in the rays. I love it though, Im out everyday play'n around in the 100+ deg heat.

Anyway i'm gunna get the pics up here soon as i can get out to snap a few.

Keep up the good work, and post the progress pictures, as you reach each milestone. :beer
