I need a pressure switch for my 4+3 valve body. I took the OD trani fluid pan off today and found that my switch has broke. The black plastic part of the switch poped off of the metal housing with the threads. The switch was just hang'n down in the pan. I assume thats why the OD was not working. So I looked in Mid America, Eklers, and Corvette America. No one has a switch. Maybe I can glue it back together. I don't really know what the switch dose though. Dose it need to be air tight, since it is a pressure switch?

Also I looked for the Check Ball that is in that metal tube. Can't see any check ball. Is that normal? Should I be able to see the ball?

As Always.... thank you, dan

Dunno' much about the 4+3 but I needed a new pressure switch for my 700R4. After checking everywhere I went to the dealer. The didn't have it but it will be in Monday morning. Get this it was only $9.08 with tax. :upthumbs

Most pressure switches in a trans should hold a burst of air at 80psi with no leaking. Mine wouldn't (at 40psi tranny fluid went oozing out). Just for anyones info the MY90-MY93 uses AC Delco p/n: 8642473 for the 4th clutch pressure switch, its a black plate single prong with a metal housing (threads are mm, but can't remember right off).

Good luck

:(

Well I just called Watson chevrolet, They discontinued the part. :mad And can you believe that it took them 10 minutes to find out that they didn't have it. No one at the parts counter knew what a 4+3 was. The man who answered the fone was asking everyone in the place. I could hear them in the backgroud "is it a 6 speed, is it a 5 speed, whats that, i don't know, ask bob, ask mark" I decided to get out my parts manual, and give them the part #
Makes ya wonder :confused

I also tried to fix mine. Didn't work!!!

The hunt is on, for a switch

what's it look like

A lot of these pressure sensors are pretty much standard. Mine has one prong (where the connector goes) with a black face. The housing is steel with fitment for a GM oil sender socket. Are there any identifying marks on yours. Mine has a small JP on the black face and a 025 stamped on the housing near the treads.

When I go to pick mine up Monday I'll have the parts counter search for yours. :) One of the cuties at the counter is kinda sweet on me;) I've only been in there three times but she's already got my name and car down. And I've only been after simple stuff .... torque converter bolts, some info on ECM's a few months back and now the pressure sensor. :w Maybe the service at my dealership is better :L Maybe we can get you a part number or something. It would make finding the part easier. Napa or most any parts place can cross the AC Delco p/n.

One place you might try is KDS Performance www.kdsperformance.com They have all kind of manual and auto tranny parts.

BTW just what is a 4+3 :confused Its some kinda manual with an automatic OD or something like that.

.

Get this..... 5speeds.com has the switch, I emailed them yesterday. Today I get a response and he says "yes we stock them" $40.00!!!!!!!!!!!!

MAN!!!!! thats all i have to say. Oh well, wunna drive the best, gotta pay the price i guess.

I'll tell you what it looks like. See if you can follow this description. It's about 1 1/2" long. Circular like a can, and it's black. Out of the back it's got two prongs with wires connected. One wire goes to the selnoid and one disapears into a maze of wire harnesses. The front of the switch has a silver metal plate that is glued into the can like body. Coming out of the silver face is a glod threaded fiting. :confused

The 4+3 is a 4 speed transmission with push button Overdrive. The overdrive can be engaged in 2nd 3rd & 4th gears. So the overdrive works in 3 gears + the 4 speed manual, gives you 4+3 AKA Doug Nash

If you find one cheaper let me know. :D

discontinued part

Corvette66,

Well I got ssome bad news for you. Your part is discontinued just like your dealership said. I was able to get a part number for you though. The AC Delco p/n for the OD pressure switch is 14082730. You may try at Napa or one of your local parts places and see if they can cross it to another part number. They may even have the original still on the shelf somewhere.

Good Luck
