Obviously.....The Early 1984 vette was optioned with pwr locks but no Keyless entry....and the Alarm of that day was just a starter killer that activated the horns(S)

my Question: Can the '84 C4 be upgraded to a more modernized alarm system.DOES ANYONE HAVE KEYLESS in their C4......

..My factory system is toast ( I don't have anything on it and don't know how to get it working again ) I just want to ****-can it and put in a better alarm with Keyless entry, window release and possibly a remote start....Where is the alarm itself and is it difficult to install a more modern alarm( I know the OEM alarm is tied to the DOOR LOCK Cylinder( thats how you arm it )

I installed a Code-Alarm unit, with optional long range antennae, amd proximity detector in my 89. The antenna mounts behind the mirror, the prox detector mounts to an aftermarket "Corvette Emblem" cover placed over the PowerSeat controls in the console. It automatically arms 60 secs after igntion shutoff. Tbere are microswitches on the hood, softtop deck, doors, and console lid. If any of those are opened the alarms goes off. The alarm is a pair of LOUD horns. The Prox detector can be adjusted for sensitivity and has two zones. Intrusion into zone 1 sounds a warning "chirp", repeated intrusions within a short time will sound the main alarm. as will opening any of the protected doors. I allows for remote strart also (auto trans only) will run for 20 mins. The parking lights are on when running remote, they also flash when arming/disarming the system. The remote will work at least 500 yards away, and thru window glass. The distance is enhanced if you hold the remote against your chin as you face the car (it reflects the signal). It comes with two remotes, more can be added if needed. The remotes have 4 buttons, one can be used as a "locater" in parking lots - it sounds 5 chirps, another is a panic that sets off the main alarm. It has a valet mode that disables the door and prox alarms only. It locks/unlocks doors. It can turn on the headlamps for 60 secs. There's a backup way to shut the alarm off if you lose the remote, or it's battery dies. The remote start will also fire up the heater/fan/AC/Defroster if desired.
The instructions were straight-forward, and step by step. The most difficult part was working with my head way down into the drivers footwell. I removed the cushions, and if I could I would have removed the steering column as well. You don't need a FSM to determine where to splice into existing wiring, it has procedures to check that out, a little trial and error. I've never had any trouble with it.

You're gonna find that remote start on a C4 is gonna cost you out the a$$.
A Good friend of mine owned a car audio shop and was putting an alarm & sound system for me in a 95. I asked him to throw in a remote starter and he begged me not to ask him that since a---it is such a ***** and b---he had to pay extra labor since it is so labor intensive.

Ya the newer the car, the bigger the PITA to install these kinds of accessories - there's more factory stuff to bypass, most of which requires a relay since you can't just clip-out the factory stuff. There's a diminishing market for remotes because of that reason - except for remote locks, they're pretty straightforward.
