I am selling a 1993 callaway LM for a friend. At least that is what I THINK this car is. I know nothing about corvettes, so I need help so I can sell this thing for her!

I only have pictures right now:

It is a 93, 31,000 miles and automatic. Obviously needs some body work done, but engine is in good shape.

I need to find info on this car so I can sell it for what it's worth, but I can only find info on the 98's.

Can anyone help me??

What do you mean by "original" LeMans?

I tried to find as many pics as I can of a LeMans to compare pics, and every pic I found looks like this car. Every other corvette I've seen doesn't look like this one. The front head lights are so different. Sorry if I sound stupid, I really don't know anything about corvettes.

Maybe she is wrong on the year of the car? I have a pic of the front of the car, here it is..doesn't this look like LM?

If you ARE right, and this isn't the car I thought, do you have any idea how I can find out what type it is? I need to find out it's used value before I can sell it.

Thank you so much for your help

Well, I could be wrong then. What about documentation? It should have some type of documentation with it from Callaway.

Documentation

I'm sure there is some sort of documentation on it, but the car is in Europe at the moment. So I would imagine that is where the documents are. I should ask her to fax me a copy or something. I really wish she would send over the car now, it would be a lot easier to sell if it was in my possesion. Although, I probably would have a really tuff time driving a car that fast anywhere! I'm used to 4 cyl. slow pokes. ;)

But I don't know, considering I've only been able to find info on the 98's and haven't read anything about the 93's then she must be wrong on the year, or you're right about it not being a LM.

If you happen to come across anything please post it, it would really help me out!

Thanks again

Do you have any other pics of that car? And do you know if it was repainted at anytime in its history? I am good friends with the owner of the last LM ever made. It is the only one in that color that Reeves shot at the factory. Its a dark Porsche blue. BEAUTIFUL car. What happened to this one?

The wheels are what I have a problem with. Thouse aren't the wheels the car came with. What does your friend want for it? I maybe interested. I can't promise anything though.

I know there was a company that wanted to make a knock off kit for the body, I just hope one of the 5 owners of the street cars weren't stupid enough to let them. Thouse lights are deffinitly LM lights. The car was probably a 93 when it started life. The LM's were based on C4's.

Do you have any closer pictures of the hood emblem? What motor is in the car? Any pics you have can be sent to LT5ZR1vette@aol.com Also, send me any of the history of the car that you know.

TIA
Kevin

on edit: If you could get any closer pictures of the damage to the front end and any other damage on the car, id be greatful.

Thanks Barb and Kevin

I do have the vin number, so I will go ahead and do that barb!

And Kevin, I will email you when I get home. I only have 3-4 pics of the car that was sent to me from Europe. It's there until I have a buyer, or until she is willing to ship it over to me. Cause how can I sell a car without the car! LOL

I was given info on the car, but none of it really made sense. And it wasn't much info.

Here it is:

the car has done: 48,470 kilmoters,

That's all I know so far. Right now, the pictures I have I gave to a classic car gallery, and they are looking in to things and deciding if they will consider buying it.

If not Kevin, sure you can have it! Ahem, I mean buy it lol. We just need to get it sold to someone. I live in Connecticut. But since I don't know enough about the car yet, I don't know it's worth. So I can't give you a price yet until I know what I should be asking.

From the pic it just looks like it needs to be repainted. She said the engine was in fine shape, but didn't mention what kind of engine it was.

I emailed her again today asking to fax me as much info as possible. So I'll have to hear back from her.

I'll send you the only pics I have when I get home.

See, I sell the car for her and I get 50% so I'm doing my best to get rid of it! LOL

Do you know what hapened to the car? It looks like the front carbon fiber spliter was ripped off the car!

No I don't know why it looks ripped up like that. All she told me was "it needs some body work"..

My friend has been vague so far, and I'm trying to get more info from her, but she's taking her sweet time about this. I guess she has to talk to her son about the car, since it's really his he knows all...

But for now while I'm waiting for answers from her, I'm doing what I can to get as much info on what type of vette this is. I would feel like a jerk trying to sell it and being totally wrong about what kind it is. Plus I need to make sure it's being sold at the right price, considering it's not really my car.

and I found this picture

I found online a 98 LM in the same blue color.. to me (although I'm not a vette Xpert) the car looks the same.. don't you think? Compare the pictures..

So I'm just totally confused...really hoping it's an LM.. like 90 corvette ZR1 said... it's the wrong wheels...and if it's a 93 then the wrong year... so I'm stumped.

and sorry I guess I'm posting pics wrong on here.. nm

ummmmm that car you posted is my friends car. Time to e-mail him.

on edit: Just because its a 1993 doesn't mean its not a real LM. For cars like this the year is not very relavant.

thanks 90 corvette ZR1 ... I appologize for my ignorance. I really have not one clue about vettes.

Maybe I should email him.

'90 Corvette ZR-1,
Do you know if Callaway sells that body kit or if someone has cloned it?
It's Bad A$$!

Spiderman :w

Pictures DONOT do this car justice. As far as I know (and hope) no one has made a knock off kit. Hopefully none of the owners were stupid enough to let a company clone their car. I know my friend was approached he said no.

on edit: That is not just a body kit, but a whole rework of a Corvette. The car is 70% carbon fiber, the whole hood/light housing, from the BSM down is carbon fiber, the rocker panles are, the rear end is also. The only 100% stock part on the car...the roof. Not even the gages are stock.

Gota: No appology is necessary. If I didn't persoanally know a gentleman who has one, I wouldn't know as much as I do about the cars. I am at work now and won't be home till about 6:30 or 7 eastern time. So if you sent me any mail, im not being rude I just can't access it. If I can help in any other ways, please let me know.

Just a little help on the VIN. The first few digits should be 1G1YY

I don't know the exact break down, but the Chevy VIN for a vette is that. The YY means its a base engine car and not a ZR-1. the ZR-1 vin is 1G1YZ.

So I would assume it is:

Chevy Corvette with the LT1. The rest should be the options on the car unless Callaway changed it.

A couple of funny things i noticed... The wheels on the car aren't from a 1993, but rather a '91 or '92... also, the rear end doesn't look like it has been changed... could this be an early prototype callway used for testing of the hood/front end? Callaway works on older corvettes, so it very well could be a 93 that he updated in 98 (after all, the LM is a C4, which ended in 96)

I recieved an e-mail stating that the rear end has Callaway embosed where Corvette should be. I have very few dubts that this car is in fact a true LM.
