hi guy's
has anyone had this happen
i had my quadrajet rebuilt over the winter ,new filter, vacum lines, etc.
set it up ,idle mixture, idle set at 800rpm,everything fine.....but i took it out
today for a ride ran good no problem until i got to a stop sign.
the IDLE went down to 3--500,i had to tap the gas a few times before it went back up to 800.
i checked everything,no binding, linkage is free and smooth
the only thing i could think of is mabey the idle circuit in carb
any ideas
thanks
carmen

If I had to guess, it would be the fuel level in the carb is too high. Either the float is set too high or it is bad (sinking). Do you know if your carb rebuilder replaced the float? Too much fuel in the bowl will cause the idle to drop and run erratic. Because floats are the bain of Q-jets, years ago I made it a personal policy that any time I opened up a Q-jet, I put in a new float (unless I was doing jet/metering rod experimentation after a performance rebuild). Have probably thrown away a bunch of good floats, but new floats are good insurance for Q-jets.
