I'm in Canada, and with the weaking US $, I'm thinking of buying a C5 from the US. Has anyone imported a car into Canada from the US? Is it a hassle? What sort of issues are there? Taxes? licensing?

thanks.

I'll offer what little insight I have on the subject considering mine is a 69 when I brought it home.

You'll need to have the bill of sale and the title to get it across the border. Once at the border, you will be charged the Fed tax, only when you licence it will you get slapped with the Prov tax.

You will need to get it inspected, I assume in Ontario you'll also need to get it through emmissions tests. You shouldn't have any problems with a C5 (I hope).

There's also something about the equipment and certain cars can be problematic. Check this out

...and finally, other than 2003, any and all C5's are apprently admissible to Canada. Read about it here.

Hope that helps.
