Info for Engine and trans

I am a new member to CAC. I have a 1978 L82 which I have had for 30 plus years. I'm looking to upgrade the motor and trans. I am in the North Orange County Ca area.

Not really sure what I want. Initially thinking an entire new engine and trans. Something with a little more HP possibly. I'm ok with rebuilding what I have and upgrade the existing engine. I would like to get a 5 speed trans. Looking for any suggestions.
