Check this site out. Very good information on the new AGM (Advanced Glass Mat) & Gell Cell batteries & regular batteries as well. Found it checking out info on the AGM batteries.........

I did read somewhere in this forum that the 2001 model year came with a new type battery...........don't know if it was a gell cell or a AGM..........

My '97 had the old type battery and it leaked acid onto the wiring harness that ran right below it. The A/C controls quit working because it is actuated by some type of vacuum line that runs in the wiring harness. We got to it just in time before there was more serious damage. If you have an older C5 with the old style battery, I suggest that you trade for the improved glass mat battery. It is cheaper than a new wiring harness or power control module.
