:w Any one know if injector cleaner that you put in your gas tank works.

If you use Chevron gasoline on a regular basis, their additive (Techron) will keep the injectors clean and you'll only need to add a can to the tank every couple of years. If you search for cheap gasoline and buy from questionable sources, use a can of Techroline with every fillup. ;)

:) Thanks Ken , thats what I needed to know.

Yeah use Chevron with Techron, two bottles every 10,000 miles or so.

Ditto on the Techron. I go two bottles after every oil change.

I'll let you know...I've got a bottle of Techron in it now. Car gets registered this week .

Ther was a lengthy post here, some time ago, an article from a Pontiac engineer who tested this in the laboratory. He stated that the test results, on a Firebird with filthy injectors, cleaned up just fine when using two tanks of a quality, detergent gasoline. There is no need, based upon his research, for cleaning additives or (usually) a shop's procedure if you regularly use good, detergent fuel.

I think that is also what Ken was saying. The additive would help the cheaper gasoline.

Techron

Thanks, I'll try techron. garylt

To Be or Not To Be

some time back I ask that very question and everyone said back then that vetts have self cleaning injectors and it was a waste of money. I use only chevron so I guess I'm safe today according to you guys. I guess....Bob Yates

What is a self cleaning injector? I use chevron techron per c4c5specialist.

I think it was Ken who posted that some of the non Techron injector cleaner will wear away at the ring on the injector.

They are referred to in one of the links I posted, but for later years.

Also, certain chemicals, as posted in those, can damage the seals in some injectors. Made good reading.

I used to put a can of seafoam in my 93 once in a while if it was running a little rough. That stuff worked like magic. I still use it in my Kenworth.
