When my 502 Was delivered to Performance Buick And Pontiac in Chesapeak Virginia..Mike one of the Owners.. along with Bill Bradly, Mikes good friend did the oil pan conversion and added the new flywheel for me.

Bill got his camera out and started taking pic's of the motor. This shot I thought was kinda cool. You can see the cam shaft and the Piston up close. I thought I'd share it with you motor heads.

If any of you are thinking of ordering a Creat motor...Performance Buick & Pontiac is the place you want to order it from. Mike is a MIdYear Vette Owner and a Hands on Guy. He also has all the GM certs you can get.. Not only is he part owner but gets his hands greasy doing motor work at the Dealership. Also shown is Mike Preping the 502 out of the creat.

Bill is allways around there checking on Mikes work :L ...Bill has been around Midyears as well as been active in the NCRS for many a year and holds many Technical Degrees as well.

So between these Two Motor heads you can't go wrong.

And I ain't getten paid for this commercial....;LOL

As you're reading the numbers and looking at the graph below, remember, this is a across-the-counter crate engine from your friendly neighbourhood Chevy dealer.

Cubic inches - 502
Liters - 8.2
Horsepower - 502 @ 5200 rpm
Torque - 567 @ 4200 rpm

Notice that torque line........approximately 550 at UNDER 3,000 rpm.

That's what you call seat-of-the-pants. When you "gently" pull away from the stop-lights, just breathe on that loud pedal. Don't wanta be causing a scene now, do we? :gap

Mark,

How quickly you've left your small block days behind. ;LOL ;LOL ;LOL

Wait'll you drive it. :eek

Oh......I'v driven BB before in my younger days so I know what's coming and I can't wait. As far as The SB goes...It's been nice but was an Unwanted Child. The price of the car was to low to walk away from at the time.

I was in the right place at the right time. So ..I bought it. But Now...I gonna have some fun ..just like the old days with my old BB cars....:D

Ya you know how he lurks and doesn't post he sent it to me to do his dirty work...:L :L I'd been waiting for a good time to post it and this thread looked as good as any.... Surprised those two (Mike & Bill) didn't talk you into bringing the car down to the shop.. They are real good and spending money.... Plus they both are really good at turning wrenches..... Bill tried to talk me into a 383 or zz430 when I was doing mine but I see they got you to grab the golden ring... I'm surprised they didn't start throwing around bigger numbers... Dave...

Didn't have to talk me into the Golden Ring.....I had that in mind way before hand. It was originally the ZZ454/440 .....But as Mike explained ..I was not that far away from the 502 Complete motor.

Like the Movie goes...."For A Few Dollars More"...... Bill and Mike did a Spread sheet on the 2 motors..it turns out that after buying all the parts for the 454.. the 502 was a "C" hair away.

So....502 it is.

And your correct...Bill is lurking somewhere.....:L
