Im getting ready to buy the Corsa Indy series exhaust and X-pipe. The mufflers dont seem that hard, but how high do you have to get the car up in order to get the mufflers out(without cutting) and on the X-pipe, I noticed it bolts to the new muffler pipes and clamps behind the converter, but do you have to cut the old H-pipe off the converters(if possible). If anybody has any tips or tricks please throw them this way. I plan on doing this at home w/ jackstands or should I fork out the $$ and have a shop do it?

Also is there any power increase that you can feel or is mainly just better sound?

Thanks Alot
Anthony

Don't know if you will have enough clearance using just jack stands. Most installs involve a drive-on lift that gets the car up high enough so that the installation can be done standing up.

A friend & I installed a GHL system & an x-pipe last summer using a pair of homemade ramps & a floor lift. At one point I think when snaking the passenger side muffler section away from the car, we had the rear end jacked up so high that the bottom of the front spoiler was touching the floor, or about 3' higher than the car was on the ramps. Its a lot easier if you take the heat shield off the gas tank. It gives you a bit more room to manuever.

Definitely don't do it by yourself. Get a friend to help out.

Without cutting you will have to swing each exhaust down about 2 feet or so below the bottom of the car. It will also help if you undo the bushings holding on the rear sway bar. Leave it attached at the outsides though. This will help on getting some room to work with. I think you do have to cut the h-pipe out to mount the x-pipe. Just remember -- measure twice, cut once. There is no room to make a mistake here since you can't make the pipe longer after it has been cut.

i reccomend cutting off the old mufflers. it's so much easier than trying to get the car high enough. once you cut the mufflers off, it's totally easy.

good luck.
