Installing a new suspension

Hey all--
Well, I have had the Performance Plus system from Vette Brakes as well as the power steering rack from Steeroids sitting on a shelf in my garage for a few months now. I want to get them on the car, but I was wondering, how hard are they to install? I can follow directions if I have them in front of me, but I have never attempted anything like this before. The most I have done is change the oil, spark plugs, and wires. I am just sick of taking my car to various shops only to be overcharged and still have to tweek the thing later on down the road. If I do it myself, at least I know who to blame! What kind of special tools are required, if any? Finally, anyone wanna help? I don't really drink, but beer is on me!

One thing that I have purchased that was worth more than I paid was the suspension rebuild video from Van Steel, $20. While some of your VBP parts might not be the same it will give you a good perspective on what you will be getting yourself into. I was in the same boat as you, never tackled a job like that before. Here's what I ended up doing; Rear Suspension Rebuild

Tools required are basically lots of sockets, box/open wrenches in various standard and metric sizes depending on the year of your Vette, mine had both and it was quite a pain to keep changing sockets. Air tools are the best of course, a real time saver not to mention require much less effort.

On Scott's recommendation..

...we also purchased the VB&P video along with our suspension parts.

We have not done the suspension switch yet, and have watched about half of the tape so far...but we know that when we finish watching the tape and are ready to tackle the job, we will be well informed.
Seriously considering bringing the second tv and vcr into the garage for the job.

Okay, will look for the Van Steel and Vette Brakes videos. I also noticed that Vette Brakes has instructions on their website for most of their products. Some of it looks intimidating, but oh well. I have more time than money. As for the heated garage:L :L :L Yeah right. I just finally got a garage of my own two months ago. Maybe I can get a space heater or something. Now, about that ticket....

Let me say now that the video is no Hollywood production, it's down and dirty and was probably filmed with a regular video camera. But it shows you what you need to get it done, and has plenty of little tricks to help avoid wasting half the day swearing in the garage. Believe me it's not as bad as it seems, I had never done anything like that before and if I can do.....well, you know how it goes.

Bring the car to Florida and you can do it in my garage, it's warm, I've got air tools, and it'll save you on a plane ticket for me :L

My boss actually has been wanting to send me to Florida to do some work down there. (Okay, so he actually wants me to MOVE down there, but oh well.) The sad thing is, I doubt I could work out of my car. I appreciate the offer though!
