Hey all I'm planning on purchasing a ZO6 exhuast and was wondering if I have to replace any gaskets or anything for the install. The person I'm looking to buy it from is only selling the exhaust system and specifically mentioned that the rubber hanging gaskets and flange bolts would not be included. Can I reuse my stock ones or do I need other ones? Anything else to be on the look out for? It has 1000 miles on it.

Lastly if you feel compelled to chime in on the benefits of this exhuast vs other one feel free but I think I can get this one for between 300-350 and at less than half the price of other aftermarkets I think this is my best bet for my limited budget.

It is a good idea to change the two gaskets (1 each side) on the exhaust pipes. The rest of your stock items (hangers, rubber, etc) will work.

That's a good price. The Z06 ehaust will save weight and make your vette sound a bit more aggressive. Plus it won't rust.

Wow, Ryan- Congrats! A Z06 Exhaust, on that black '01 of yours... nice. :D

So, how are you going to resist the temptation not to press the pedal a bit on all those long, straight roads at the USAFA?

Because if I get a speeding ticket on base. I lose driving privlieges for 6-12 months. I can still have the car, just not on base, which basically means.......I can't have the car. That combined with the fact that the military ID doesn't earn you any points on base (go figure) should keep me from getting to nuts. However, once I pass the gates........

won the bid over the weekend for 435 to include shipping. Unfortunatly gonna have to wait until I'm home in july to install it.

Bluecoupe has it wired! Replace the two gaskets where the overaxle pipe bolts up in front of the rear wheels. Everything else is reusable. Great Mod! Best thing I've done to mine. You'll love it!

A Z06 owner installed Flowmasters in it and left the factory pipes in the muffler shop, the owner called my cousin and put them in his 2000 C5, they work really good. Go for it, they fit and work

Hi Bioscache2 -

You got a good deal on that Ti catback.

I just inspect the gaskets, and if they look OK I re-use them. I just did a 98 coupe and re-used the catback to h-pipe gaskets - no problems.

The two rubber hangers on the rear - same thing - just look them over - if they are not torn or otherwise damaged, no need to replace them.

It is easiest to use an extention on a ratchet to get to the two 10mm nuts on each of the rear two (left and right) hangers. You can reach up inside the rear fascia and just undo the hangers there and remove the whole hanger with the catback. The studs will remain on the car.

You'll have to press the muffler upwards and work it around, then work it downward and backward to get the pipes to "snake" out over the halfshafts - be careful not to damage the CV joint boot on the halfshafts with the flange on the catback pipe.

The car will have to be 3 or 4 feet off the ground to do this job due to the length of the catback pipe and the necessity to lower the mufflers to work the over-axle pipes out of the mounting location.

I think this is one of the two best catback options for a C5 (Borla Stingers being my other choice....)

You'll like it...

best regards -
