My speedo backlight has been out since I bought the car about 7 mos. ago. It's been an irritant, but I could live with it.

This morning when I started the car all the gage and tach backlights went out. It seems odd that they would both go at the same time like that. I'm afraid I've got some kind of electrical gremlin. The rest of the dash lights to the right of the tach all still work. First the VATS, now this, and I was told yesterday that only the very left side of my roof stoplight is working.

The radio/speakers have also been messed up from the get go. I think only the left front and right rear speakers have ever worked at all (left front intermitant). The other day the left front went out and won't come back.

I'm open for input on any and all of these thoughts and problems. Thanks.

I'm just guessing, but here goes. Your speedo light was just a bulb. There's 4 of them in the dash, so you would have still had light for the most part. Now, your entire dash is gone. Mine did this to me last summer. It turned out to be a short in the wiring harness (and a bad connection) and it cost me a bundle to fix. Yours may be something much easier to find and less expensive. First, check the fuse to see if it's blown. If so, replace it. If not, see what Vigman has to say. He has forgotten more about dash electronics than I'll ever know, so I'd wait for him to check in with his opinion. Whatever the case, good luck!
