I am considering a intake change and was trying to get a few opinions on a power-plus manifold a few days ago. As no one answered the post so I figure that this is a new manifold on the market or just no one has bought one.

The reason I am looking at these is the fact that according to their specs they sit lower than the comparible Eldebrock manifold.
The manifold I am interested in is the polished dual plane air gap "crosswinds" manifold. As a vette with the stock hood has clearance issues I don't want to deal with I am looking closely at height.

The Crosswind they say is 4.65 inches high and the torker I already have is 4.45. I can always drop from the 14"x3" air filter to a 14"x 2.25 " which should more than compensate for the increase in height. The Edlebrock version of the same sits 4.92 inches which might be a problem.

Of course I could go with a regular Performer manifold and not worry about it but that would take the fun out of it.
Anyone have a Edelbrock "performer air gap" with the stock hood ??

Resto,

I read somewhere that if you find a solid (square) metal bar and lay it across the hood's recess area on the fenders (inboard of fenders towards the engine bay) you can get an accurate drop measurement to either the air cleaner (if you plan to keep it) or to the original manifold carb base. Then determine if you have the right clearance through the math.

I installed a single plane X-CELerator manifold, and I'll have no problems (I ordered a 2.5 inch Weiand air cleaner).
