Interior light weird one ?!?!

I have a problem with my interior drivers door light. It doesn't come on when doors open, however I can turn it on by pressing on & turn off with second press (as it should operate). All the other interior lights work properly.

Door courtesy switches are both new & the driver's door lamp assembly was replaced with a used unit due to on/off switch on old being broken.

There should be three wires going to this light: a ground wire, a "hot" wire coming from the switch and a wire that is energized when the door is opened. Its sounds as if the third wire has an problem.

Thanks for the direction George. I have to go to a meeting tonite, but I'll check it out tomorrow & let you know what I find. I do have a shop manual so I'll try to also provide addl. info when I reply (ie: wire colors) Thanks again....

Does the rear hatch open from the pushbuttons? If not, check the interior-light timing module...
