Just had the '87 tuned up last friday and went on an 80 mile journey today. Service Engine Soon light comes on and stays on for about 5 miles then goes out and stays out for a number of miles and comes back on. This happened about 4-5 times on this journey. This was not happening before the tune-up. Plugs, wires, pcv, distrib. rotor & cap were replaced. Air flow filter was cleaned. Other than that only physical inspection was done. The EGR & MAP sensor were not touched. Going on long trip friday. What to look for? Will take it back to service garage but wanted some opinions first. Thanks

I can think of several things that can cause intermittent code 32. Since you just had the car worked on I would check vacuum lines first. You may also have a dirty EGR soleniod pintle. Also it may be going bad. Hopefully it's a vacuum leak.

Sounds like a vac line loose or broken. Look under the rear of the plenum between the dist and the plenum body,...that has the vac line for the cabin and the line that runs over to the cruise control.

The EGR vac line is under the throttle body to the EGR solenoid then to the EGR valve itself. The EGR solenoid should be mounted to the thermostat housing.

Last, the EGR temp switch on top of the EGR tube has a single wire sticking out of the top. That runs along behind the dist and can get pinched or damaged when mounting the dist cap.
