Is R supposed to be this difficult?

I've only gotten it engaged 2 times. Right now, I'm stuck in my carport, and I'm about to call the PO and see if there was a problem, or if there's some lift or swing of the stick, to get it.

Anybody? Is this an issue with this tranny? I don't have FSM or Owner's Manual yet here...
