After looking through ever catalog I have trying to determine who offers the best price for the complete set of carpet for my ’76, I’m stumped. Prices range from $199.00 to $224.00. Is there one suppler whose carpet is better then another to account for the price difference?
Just wanted to see who you all thought had the best carpet and should I really care and go with the cheapest???
Help please. I’m bored during the winter and I need to start a project before I go insane……..
;help

I took a chance and bought a complete set of carpet on Ebay for $217 and i'm very pleased with it. Go to Ebay type in corvette carpet and look for the $217 deal sold by {70 Stingray} also he has really good deals on seatcovers...

I'm gonna prob just end up using TLD-Corvette next wk since they seem cheaper and I have also bought a few others things from them already that were quality. I'm not sure about the carpet, but for 165 bucks I'll take the chance unless others chime in and say differently.

Most dealers are selling the same Auto Custom Carpet sets although there is a big difference in price. They are supposedly the biggest manufacturer of restoration carpet and own the rights to GM colors. Try Willcox Corvette at 1-800-588-3883 or www.yankeelady.com/willcox. They list theirs at 154.99. They also sell it on E-bay. If you want the heat barrier, Go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy a roll of "reflextix" insulation and cut to fit. It's less then $25.

Take a quick look at this THREAD "Phase II" there are several photos and on page 2 of the thread is where I purchased the carpet set ;)

Eants,

I purchased the kit sold by Rik's Corvette and it matched perfectly(as far I can tell, for the sun bleaching and dirt makes them look different anyways).

I also had the need to replace the compartment door assembly. I opted to send Corvette Central the two pieces of carpet for the compartment's lids that were part of the Rik's carpet set, and they installed them on the assembly. They did a great job! :beer

As said most carpet is manufactured by Auto custom carpet.ebay is a good place to look. Also The Last Detail and the last details subsidiary company is a carpet supplier for all cars called carpet 4 cars. There is another place that is a manufacturer called Ohio Auto mat and Trim Parts is a dealer for them. And Im not for sure but I think Al Knoch manufacturers their own carpet.

Thanks g4460. Looks like Wilcox will be getting an order form me. Once I receive it, I will let everyone know what I think about it their quality and the color match.
I am going to be peeling the carpet up here in the next few weeks. I hope the floor pans are not to torn up. From the underside, I can see some rust damage but I am pretty good with a welder so at most, maybe a patch or two will suffice. I read some great things on this forum regarding POR15 (something like that). I will have to try it to prevent any further rust damage.
It’s Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!

Carpet Manufacturers

The best carpet I've seen and the brand favored by most NCRS types as the most original is from Romeo Engineering. Their prices are hard to beat, but they are slooooooooowww, to deliver and hard to get hold of (by phone.)
If you can get hold of someone and verify that they have your carpet in stock and can verify shipment, I'd try them again in a heartbeat.
Al Knoch is probably my second choice.

I got a complete interior, full carpet, vinyl seatcovers, and basic door panels from
Virginia Vettes for I think like $575. The carpet was ACC,the door panels were from
Corvette America, and they even made the seatcovers in 76 white,( mine is a 75 ).
Good service and product was cheaper than going through the other venders. Go
figure. Sorry I can't say if the carpet alone was any cheaper but somebody else
may want to check them out.

Replacement carpets

I bought at set of Al Knock carpets to replace my charcoal grey interior in my '82 Vette two years ago. To my dismay, they are turning green already in areas around the console where the sun hits them. Totally bummed about it, and don't want to go through a replacement so soon after doing it. Maybe I will get used to green.
