When I took the transmission out, I could obviously look into the bell housing and see the deal. Well, I was just playing around and I pulled the throwout bearing right out and was wondering if that is normal. I know that the spindle of the tranny normally holds it in, but without the spindle there, should it just be able to slide out?

I don't know, maybe I'm just over-analyzing that. Once I get the bell housing off I'll be able to really look around and replace.

Thanks! :D

Yep

The throw out bearing sits in the shifter fork held in by the fingers on the outside of it, two on either side. It should come right out by a light pull, but as John Z said in another post, make sure the new one is properly installed, by design, they can be put in wrong which will not allow you to have any adjustment. You have a PM, get back to me.

Yep, I'll make sure I put the new one in right. I'll drop you a line, Lou, when I'm putting this all back together and we can make a day out of it. :)
