r98 I moved this into the C5 Tech section, if this question is not about your '98 let me or one of the Admins know and we'll move it back into the C3 Tech section..

At idle after warmup, my 03 shows ~25 psi oil pressure. As the RPM goes up, so does the oil pressure. I usually see around 40-42 psi at cruising speed/RPM. Is this what you are seeing?

As for temp, when sitting at a red light on hot days and with the road already heated up, it is normal for the coolant temp to go up also. Once it reaches a point where the second fan turns on, it will stop heating up. 225-230 is not unusual. Once you get the car moving again, the flow of cooling air increases and the temp comes down. Sitting still, the fans are the only thing moving air across the radiator and the air is coming from below the car, near an already hot road surface.

You didn't mention speed, RPM, outside air temp, etc. for these conditions

Am I missing something?

Sounds normal to me. I know when I first got my '97 I thought the oil pressure was a little on the low side, and it is 25-30 idle 40-45 at cruise, 1800 to 2000 rpm.

My older small blocks (60's 70's era) had much more pressure at an idle.

The temps you report are about the same as mine as well. 220 stuck in traffic, 190 crusing. I recently had the water pump replaced, it was running a few degrees hotter prior to the change.
