Hi All,

My passenger car door does not open using the outside chrome handle. I have to use the interior handle to open the door.

I had just had that item replaced, and the guy told me that the latch assembly that catches the striker is screwed up, and needs to be replaced.

I am not sure what this assembly is officially called, but I need to purchase one. I've attached a photo of an item identified as a "latch assembly" that is for sale online... Is this the piece that I need?

Thanks!

Ralph

That is more then likley what he was talking about. That is the only thing that comes in contact with the striker unless you are me then it's also your seat belt.

Usually the latch is not the problem. Most times it's not adjusted right after installed. The rod coming down from the outside handle goes into a nut that is on the end of the rod. This nut can be adjusted up/down on the rod to aqdjust the throw. If you had someone do this job I would look it over first brfore buying a latch. A lot of the time once the latch is out you can clean it with carb cleaner and lube it with white grease and it works fine.

Good luck
